DominoEdKC is a program founded by University of Oklahoma graduate, Big 8 Track and Field champion, 3 times world domino champion and Professional Domino Consultant Travis D. L. Newsome, to teach the game of dominoes to metropolitan Kansas City high school students (Missouri and Kansas) AT NO COST to the students, their parents or high schools. Six weekly 90 minute classes will begin Saturday, April 16, 2011 and continue each Saturday through May 21, 2011. Each class will start at 10:00 AM and run for 90 minutes. Students will also have the opportunity to learn the game through a selected internet site and online tutoring by a team of ten world class domino players including 7 local world domino champions.

It is "out of the box" training students will surely enjoy focusing on such needed life skills as visualization, critical thinking ability, probability analysis, deductive reasoning, logical reasoning, and improved recall ability. In addition, students will enjoy enhancements in the areas of self esteem, team building, good competitive spirit, increases moral and morale, pride in school, improved social skills, stress relief and DISCIPLINE. Students will find themselves putting down their video games for dominoes. Shortly after the program is completed, on June 3rd, 4th and 10th, 11th, a competition in the form of a tournament will be held at the Ward Parkway Shopping Center (86th & State Line Road, Kansas City, MO) to award college scholarships to the students that excel.

Parents will also be welcomed and invited to take part in the training because the competition for scholarships at the end of the program will also pit parent/student against parent/student, and parent/parent competition in addition to student vs. student competition. The idea of parents competing to help students obtain college scholarships is a different concept. The interaction between students and their parents will be awesome, unusual and very rewarding.

All metropolitan Kansas City high school student and parents are invited to Rockhurst High School (9301 State Line Road, Kansas City, MO 64114) Rose Theatre on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 10:00 AM for a one hour questions and answers period about this exciting opportunity. Domino classes will start at Rockhurt High School at 10:00 AM on April 16th and continue each Saturday through and including May 21, 2011.
