SHOW-ME DOMINO LEAGUE DRAFT HELD

THE SHOW-ME DOMINO LEAGUE OF KANSAS CITY held the first ever draft for teams on Saturday, September 5, 2009. A surprise but as previously announced, Wayne Morrow was the first person selected in the draft by Captain Aaron Johnson (many thought Jerome Wooten would be the first pick), Captain LeAndra Boyd selected Jerome Wooten as the 2nd pick, Captain Don Ousley selected Mark Jackson of Fort Worth, Texas as the 3rd pick followed by Captain Bob Cooper selecting Travis Newsome. Captain Ronald “Bonemaster” Toombs, Sr. closed out the first round by selecting Eddie Rice. The 10 month season starts this Saturday where players will play a total of 12 games with 12 different partners with the top 4 records playing in the finals. At the end of the season, cash will be awarded to the top teams. The competition should be very even as the Captains did an outstanding job in selecting the players. There will be a supplemental draft this Saturday prior to the tournament for several very good players whose names were omitted from the draft. Some of the top talent in the supplemental draft will be Ray Sawyer of Kansas City, Kansas, Walter “rureadum” Patterson of Houston, Texas, William Maupin of Kansas City, MO, Dale Barnes and Don Scott of McAlester, Oklahoma. Additional members of the league but not currently eligible for the draft are Harold Marler of Clinton, MS, Nate Tsegay of Oakland, CA and R. E. Davenport of Alvin, Texas.
The Show-Me Domino League has a ton of all star players and a total of more that 20 world championships. The league can put together an all star team for some national or international competition at anytime.Keep an eye on this blog for details and team standing.

EXCITING SHOW-ME DOMINO LEAGUE SEASON

Hello Show-Me Domino League Members,

The Show-Me Domino League of Kansas City 2009-10 season begins on September 12, 2009 at Lutfi's Restaurant on the Landing Mall at 63rd and Paseo, Kansas City, Missouri. In a twist this year, Captains have been named because this year we will have teams. The Captains will select their teams in a draft on September 5th at a holiday weekend party hosted by Aaron Johnson and his family. This is an annual event by Johnson's family. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend this party. It may determine the round that you are drafted.

There are 5 Captains and they will select eligible players in the following draft order.

1. Aaron Johnson
2. LeAndra "Ladybug" Boyd
3. Don Ousley
4. Bob Cooper
5. Ron "Bonemaster" Toombs, Sr.

The draft order was determined by a vote of the Captains.

In a surprise move, Aaron Johnson has already announced that he will make Wayne Morrow the first pick ending speculation that Jerome Wooten would be the first pick of the draft. LeAndra is expected to make Jerome her first pick followed by Don Ousley selecting Mark Jackson of Fort Worth, Texas. After that the field is wide open with a host of talent. Bob Cooper drafting 4th is being coy about his first pick leaving Bonemaster guessing who may be available.

This is going to be an exciting season. Make plans to particpate. Keep and eye on this blog.

In the recent ShowMe Domino League Tournament, Jerome Wooten (L) seems like he has some concerns about his opponent A. C. Thomas. Jerome's partner is Lutfi Khalifah (tournament host) who placed 3rd in the overall tournament and A. C.'s partner is Wayne Morrow who finished 2nd in the tournament.
